What this tool does
This calculator estimates calories burned during a 30-minute walk. It also shows how far that 30-minute walk may take you and roughly how many steps it may include.
How it estimates calories
The calculator fixes time at 30 minutes, estimates distance from pace, estimates steps from distance, then applies the walking calorie model using body weight and pace.
Example calculations
- 30 minutes at 2 mph: about 1 mile of easy walking.
- 30 minutes at 3 mph: about 1.5 miles of moderate walking.
- 30 minutes at 3.5 mph: about 1.75 miles of brisk walking.
Common walking goals
Thirty minutes is a common walking goal because it is easy to schedule and repeat. Splitting it into two 15-minute walks can still be useful if that is easier to sustain.
Methodology and disclaimer
Actual calorie burn varies by body weight, age, body composition, terrain, incline, pace, and fitness level. This calculator is educational and not medical advice.
