Why this site exists

Most calorie-and-step calculators online are either buried under aggressive ads, weighted toward selling something, or oversimplified to the point of being misleading. We wanted a free tool that's quick to use on a phone, gives a defensible estimate, and explains what the number actually means.

What we believe

  • Movement is the goal. The calculator is a starting point, not a finish line.
  • Honesty about precision. Step-based calorie estimates are educated guesses. We say so, repeatedly.
  • Plain English. No jargon, no hype, no diet-industry shouting.
  • Accessible by default. The site should work on any device, on any connection, with no account.

How the math is done

The main calories burned walking calculator blends two well-established methods — a MET-based hourly burn and a per-mile estimate scaled to body weight — and applies a small age and sex correction. Focused tools like the steps to calories calculator, miles to steps calculator, and daily step goal calculator reuse that same methodology where calorie estimates are involved.

Every calculator page includes a short methodology and disclaimer section because walking estimates vary by age, weight, body composition, pace, stride length, terrain, incline, and fitness level.

What we don't do

We don't sell programs, supplements, or coaching. We don't ask you to sign up. We don't store calculator inputs — calculations happen entirely in your browser. The site is supported by tasteful display advertising, which lets us keep it free.
